SO MANY PHOTOS – blog posts moving

Posted on December 21, 2012 by MYND'S i | Leave a comment

Too many photos is a good problem to have. Not only do I have to keep up with my Real Estate photos, but having ventured into orbs, impressionist, fine art, crystal, photo stacking and splash photography has brought on a new collection of pictures that I would love to share with everyone. I’ve decided to keep the real estate business photos separate from the rest, so I have removed all the blog posts onto a different site.

To see the larger collection you will have to go to http://myndsiphotos.wordpress.com/

This is where you will find my blog posts and updated photos from now on.

Crystal Beauty

Fall colours have blown away. Green grass is blanketed in white. For some, it’s a dreary time of year, but bright blue skies and cold weather bring out new beauty in God’s creation.

I take pleasure in winter walks with my dog, looking for ice and snow-covered treasures. The endless patterns in ice crystals never cease to amaze me and take my breath away. These first pictures were taken in my backyard creek. I promise to post a long winter’s worth of ice crystals so keep checking in.

Through the Looking Glass

Recently I decided to take on a photo project, something I haven’t done before. Idiscovered one day by accident, that if I took a photo looking through a marble the picture flips and reflects everything around it in a sort of fish-eye lens viewpoint. I started experimenting and eventually purchased several sizes of glass balls. These orbs travel with me wherever I go. They are placed on rocks, bridges, benches, tree branches…anywhere that they can be stabilized and can take in the surroundings in an interesting way.

It soon became apparent that I not only had to be aware of the composition of the photo itself, but also the composition within the orb, making sure that it was in complete focus and didn’t reflect any unwanted objects – such as the photographer. Moving the camera in various angles and levels to the orb produced totally different photos.

I have since graduated to real crystal ball with perfect clarity and zero imperfections. Be sure to check back regularly to see the newest orb creations.

Splash Photography

One boring Saturday evening I decided to go into the workshop and try some ‘splash’ photography. I gathered a black pan, food colouring, various sizes of eye droppers and what ever else I thought was useful.

You should have seen the set up! I attached the eye droppers to a mic stand. I arranged everything on top of a miniature bar fridge, thickened the liquid with guar gum and started dropping water – at the same time clicking the shutter.  Not owning any coloured gels for the flash, I collected some old coloured cd cases and taped them to the flashes to create different tints. I also experimented with plastic duotangs. I was thrilled with the results.

Thus begins the splash photography experiments.
